alpaca wristwarmers took about 55 grams
(2 ounces)
Size 4 mm
needles, this is best on a short
circular needle, but can be worked on
straight double ended needles, Tension about 5 stitches to the inch,
Cast on 37 stitches.
Knit seven rows
Pattern:
Row 1
K2 tog, K1 *(YO, knit 1, YO, K1, slip 1, K2
tog psso K 1) * YO, knit 1, YO, K1, K 2
tog
Row 2 purl.
Work these two rows 8 times, ( if you want longer wrist warmers work
more patterns 10 or 12)
Work thumb: Continue the 2 pattern rows but do NOT K2tog
at either end. This
increases one stitch at either end of every row 1. When an extra seven stitches have been added
at either end and row 2 of the pattern worked, leave the extra 7 stitches at
either end on the needle and continue to
work the two Pattern rows on the central
37 stitches.
Work the two pattern rows 10 times more then row
1 once.
Knit six rows. Cast off.
Bring the 7 stitches at either end of the needle
together, join in yarn and starting with
a knit row stocking stitch 6 rows (one row knit, one row purl, 3 times)
Knit 5 rows. Cast off.
Join the side seam above the thumb. Join the side seam below
the thumb and the side seam of the thumb.
Work second wristwarmer.
