New way to wash wool - in the River!

Spinning by the river was blessed with a lovely sunny day - so Pat took the opportunity of washing some of her Portland yarn in the beautiful clear water. The dirt and grease is making the water cloudy towards the bottom of the picture. The water is about three feet deep, but you can see right down to the bottom - there were quite a few fish showing interest! The Portland yarn came up very well and soon dried in the warm gentle breeze. This is definitely the easiest way to wash wool!I was afraid it would sink but as Pat pointed out, it would take quite a long time for that to happen. The yarn floated on the surface and looking surreal, we just had to make sure it didn't float out of reach.
